SAN DIEGO, CA – As part of its 2019 annual charitable drive, Independent Financial Group, LLC (IFG), a San Diego-based independent broker-dealer, has announced that it has awarded a total of $100,000 to five selected charities: the Challenged Athletes Foundation, the Mitchell Thorp Foundation, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Wayfinder Family Services.

“Giving to high-impact charities has been something IFG has been passionate about since day one.” says David Fischer, Co-Founder at IFG. “It’s very a satisfying feeling to be in a position to support causes we feel strongly about which are also making a real difference in the community.”

“I’ve been contributing personally to Junior Blind of America [Wayfinder Family Services] for over 20 years, and each of these organizations are more than deserving of our support.” comments Joe Miller, Co-Founder at IFG. “As a company, it’s an honor to work with organizations that truly embrace their missions and put their resources to good use.”

In addition to its own contribution, IFG raised a total of $20,575 from its registered representatives at its National Conference held in August. To date, IFG has donated nearly a million dollars to various charitable organizations.

About IFG’s Selected Charities

The Challenged Athletes Foundation provides opportunities and support for physically disabled athletes so they can pursue active lifestyles and can enjoy sports like those without significant physical challenges. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s mission is to provide all people with cystic fibrosis the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research, drug development, and access to high-quality, specialized care. Wayfinder Family Services (formerly Junior Blind of America) offers a full range of essential services that meet the needs of visually impaired people of all ages. Founded in memory of their son Mitchell, Brad and Beth Thorp formed the Mitchell Thorp Foundation with the goal of supporting families whose children suffer from life-threatening illnesses, diseases and disorders. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society funds blood cancer research worldwide and aims to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma.
